Master of Science in Recreation and Tourism Studies

scrd

The Master of Science degree program in Recreation and Tourism Studies is offered jointly by the School of Community Resources and Development at ASU's Downtown Phoenix campus and the Department of Recreation and Tourism Management at ASU's West campus. The degree prepares students to analyze and understand critical topics and issues pertinent to the fields of recreation, leisure and tourism. The goal of the Master's degree is to provide an academic environment that fosters scholarship, critical thinking, and creativity while preparing graduates for leadership/management positions in research and professional recreation and tourism related public, non-profit, and private agencies. Students select one of the two emphasis areas of recreation or tourism.

The ASU Downtown and West campuses offer the unique experience of studying in a dynamic urban laboratory within a vast state where travel and tourism is one of its primary industries. The Phoenix Metro area contains a microcosm of trends affecting our nation - immigration, rapid growth, natural resource issues, and diverse and young populations. As one of the fastest growing areas in the U.S., our rapidly changing demographics provide an unparalleled venue for learning.

The combined faculty of the two programs brings together diverse individuals with a broad range of scholarly expertise and leadership abilities in the primary areas of study. View our CRD Faculty and RTM Faculty
